Defiance is now a boat of the past and it is time for your editors to come to grips with the 2008 season. On Tuesday evening County Road 4 was begining to flood and everywhere the spring melt is well underway. With record snowfalls this will be an interesting year with many on the flood plains reaching for sandbags. Tomorrow I will make a firsst visit to the waterway, as the site is looking dated.

Rufus is entering the highest risk period for cats. The first couple of big warm weather walks. Inevetably the spring makes the cat brain short circuit and there has been many a fine feline that does not make it back for one of these extended adventures. Niether of the boatyard cats was to be seen and I assusme they have found more sheltered accomidation than the left over.

Road trip... It iwas time to begin organizing the 2008 boating season which meant a trip to Georgian Bay to visit Misty River the new boat. We have decided to truck the boat south as work is leving nme no time for a leisurley delivery down the Trent Severn. The bigger question is where I will base the boat for 2008. The rive was absoluty beautiful with one of the first warm days making it a day out.

There are still huge piles of snow blocking any meaningfull access to Misty in Georgian Bay. On the othere hand this was the first chance to start to get to knopw the boat. Bruce did a marvelous job. Misty River is pristine, small but prinstine. On the other hand with some modfication the boat would be a steal for a gray couple or old far. who want to have recreation in Great Lakes.

Now comes the decision where to put Misty River for 2008. Rick of Waupoos is not back from Europe until mid week and my If Misty Rive goes to Waupoos there will be a termptation to spend too much time aboard and that is not the game plan. poor old brain is tugged in so many directions as it would be nice to have the boat close enough to stop by on my way home after work. She is a pretty little boat, but longer term I need to sell the boat and see something like an Alburg 37 on the mooring.

Marine Forecast issued for Eastern Lake Ontario. Issued: 3.00 AM EDT Sunday 6 April 2008 for the period ending at 3.00 AM Monday with an outlook for the following 24 hours. Forecast: Wind east 10 knots increasing to 15 this afternoon then veering to southeast near midnight. Fair. Waves 1 metre or less. Bruce has made great inroads in preparing Defiance for transport. I don't know about moving a capable vessel by land but I do understand the pressure of time constraints. I must say that between him and Cathy Defiance is looking very clean and the result of a good body is well in evidence.

The ice has gone from the Waupoos Channel and Bob was bust getting the barge ready for moving sheep. Overall the mainstay boaters of Waupoos were hard at work with winter covers comming off and the polishing begining.

Stillwater Basin - Belleville is still an option however it is a great winter harbour however a concreate box as far as beauty.

The boatyard Cats Sweetie and Serindipidy are doing well although I do not know where they call home at the moment. I will feel better about making the jpourney to Waupoos now as there are other boaters who are pitching in to love and feed them.
