All but a couple of boats are now secure on the hard and the first of the docks is out. I keep looking for that last cruise but am so busy there are not enough hours in the day. I have been out of touch with the net as I have focused on alternative winter mooring and getting down to business and finishing the EbbTide rebuild before the weather gets too cold.

Thats the problem at this time of year as epoxy need 16C to cure. The weather has now turned from a beautiful week with temperatures touching the low double digits. Overall for all that has happened I should not be too distressed as my world was well rocked mid October when I lost Stillwater as a winter harbor.

Defiance is ready for winter yet fully operational. This version winter bridge deck provides shelter to the aft deck and provides insulation for the primary space of the aft cabin. There is from 1" to 3" of rigid insulation on the aft deck with a tempoary ply deck that is very tempoary. Concept wise in the persuit of heat effecency a BTU saved is a dollar not eared.

For me once I got through the change of plans and computer dying shocks life has been about EbbTide this re-core stringers - transom job have in the shop at the moment.

Life is a bowl of smoky fiberglass

More fiberglass and a little nasty old foam thrown in as well.

Boat repair work I am speaking of.

Visit EbbTide's page here

But the truth is my body is giving up. I can still do the heavy work, but there are becoming too many days that I am below par. I have never failed to satisfactory complete a project yet, and I don't want my time as a fabricator to end on a sour note. Boat repairs beat many other forms of earning a living and it appears I am cut from the OAS train and on my own. But, the reality is every big project requires I use additional labor, and good people are scarce and often unavailable leaving me to do the job.

Coming back and having to do the hard removal grind on EbbTide was OK and the event went with without any further injury to my body. But! There were certinally lots of warning indicators that got my attention. If I try to do this work until I save enough to retire I will end up crippled or who knows. But dire consquences far beyond normal small business.
